Best Cheese Danishes
Here’s an easy cheese Danish recipe that’s super delicious. l use Pillsbury Grand Crescent Rolls as these come out just the right size.
I remember when McDonalds had the best cheese Danishes in the 80s and 90s but were discontinued for some reason. I think this recipe is very similar to those Danishes but, in my opinion, much tastier.
I like that I don’t have to make the dough ahead of time, which saves a lot of time. The cheese filling recipe is perfection and, overall, everything comes together nicely.

Prep time: 9 MinCook time: 16 MinTotal time: 25 Min
Ingredients
Cheese Danish
- 2 tubes of refrigerated crescent rolls (Pillsbury Grand size works well)
- 1 8-oz package cream cheese – softened
- 1 ½ tsp lemon juice
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp butter – melted
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
Glaze
- ½ cup confectioner’s sugar
- 3 Tsp whole milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mat.
- In a medium sized mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, lemon juice, granulated sugar, and vanilla until creamy.
- Open the crescent roll tubes but do not unroll them. Instead, use a knife to make thick slices – about 7 or 8 per roll.
- Lay the crescents out on the baking sheet and use your hands or a cup to push down on each pastry roll and make a little wall around the edges.
- Mix the brown sugar and melted butter together and brush over each pastry.
- Spoon cream cheese mixture into each pastry.
- Bake one sheet at a time for approximately 16 – 20 minutes or until golden on the edges and set in the center.
- Make the Glaze:
- Stir the confectioner’s sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth. Add more milk if needed. Drizzle over slightly cooled Danishes.
